They are a couple of folks who use it here. However, I have read many comments and UOAs which show RP thins out rather quickly. There are better oils out there. You really cant go wrong with M1 0w-40.

RP is decent oil for an application that isn't too hard on it. In my turbocharged Honda, I can thin it significantly in 1000-1200 miles, and at that point I don't feel very comfortable with it. I haven't had the same issues with the M1 0w-40 or 15w-50.

Amsoil

I started using Amsoil at 5,000 miles, 0w30, series 2000. Amsoil recommends 35,000 miles or one year oil changes. I put 15,000 a year on so Iam changing once a year. I also put Amsoil in the transfer case and rear ends. I think this saved my rear diff.

Royal Purple is supposed to be a good synthetic oil from what I hear, I have only used it in the 75-140wt once so certainly no expert on it. We have some large compressors and turbines at work and thats what the service guys use in them if that means anything.

In all the oil analysis I've seen, it thins out way too much. It really isn't a very good oil for the daily commuter. It would be fine for racing conditions, but not very good for daily use. Redline, Mobil 1 and Amsoil show far superior UOA's, especially over extended drain intervals.

Royal Purple user here

I have used Royal Purple in my 300Zx Twin Turbo for years and have been VERY happy. Also used their radiator cooler and real end oil as well in my Z.
I far as my Titan I have the R.P oil and radiator cooler in it and all seems to be very good. To me it dosen't matter how much it cost - so I want the very best for my autos . The research shows to me that R.P. is the best.

Does anyone know if their gear lube fares better for the daily driver?

I haven't seen much data on their gear lubes. RP engine oil is definately an inferior oil to both Amsoil, Redline and Mobil 1 for the daily driver. I have not seen 1 good oil analysis going more than 3-5k. I would have to assume that their gear oil is also inferior.

Do you have recommendations for superior gear lubes? I would prefer synthetic. Should I just stick with Nissan's?

Here's a recent analysis of Royal Purple 5w30,4050 miles,03 5.3 Silverado that shows RP not thinning out and staying strong after over 4000 miles.
I'm not saying it doesn't thin out after normal change intervals. What I am saying is this particular analysis shows the opposite. It's nice to see a recent good analysis after over 4000 miles of RP.

The copper looked a little high. I think the thread that your link points to pretty much sums up that RP just isn't a very good oil in comparison to other oils. Especially for the high price that RP wants for an inferior commuter oil.

GM's V8's throw very high copper in general...it's not uncommon to see 50 or more PPM in an otherwise mechanically sound engine.
