I have a good friend that is a transmission guy and he says that the transmissions in our trucks is one of the best money can buy. If you tow really heavy things alot just get a good Oil cooler for the transmission.
That's all you need! These transmissions are top notch!! Very Strong!!!

You need to pm "the head." He's yanked his and is going to ship it out to change some of the shifts and stalls.

www.ipttrans.com
or
www.levelten.com

Both can beef up your transmission. You might not like the price, though, for doing the whole unit. Alto also makes a rebuild kit if you feel brave enough. www.altousa.com

I'm just doing the valve body and getting the torque converter changed to something a bit more loose for increased stall and it's about $1000. I think sending them the entire tranny is like $3200 or more for the complete "bullet-proofing". I'm not putting out enough power yet to justify that.

Depends on what you mean by 'slipping'. I had some issues with my tranny that wound up being a slow leak out of a transmission line. Two hours at my dealership and I drove out with a definite return to normality. This has been my only serious issue with the truck, outside of new rotors (like everyone else).
