Leaking rear diff seal

I was just under my truck today inspecting the rear diff and was kind of concerned of what I saw. Oil has seeped through the seal all the way around the pumpkin and it looks like its come out of the breather valve too. The axle is covered in oil (not that much) about a 2 inch diameter around the breather valve.

My friend said this is normal wear. What do you guys think? Should I bring it in to the dealer? I have a 2004 and I changed the rear diff to 75-140 syn at 4000 miles, I now have 7000 miles

Did you remove the diff cover prior to changing the oil? If not take it back to the dealer to have them look at it. Oil should never seep out of the cover and is indicative of a problem. If you did remove the cover I doubt that they cover the cover leak under warranty unless you are less than truthfully with them.

No I never took the cover off. All I did was change the oil to 75-140 syn from 80-90. I'll take it in to the dealer and maybe i'll even get them to put on the 2005 cover, but I doubt it

I have seepage also at 6100 miles on my '04 cc se. I took it to the dealer and also contacted Nissan and they would not replace it with an '05 cover. Nissan Corp stated they cannot switch components that have changed of different production years. So the dealer is going to replace an 04 cover and the diff oil until I decide exactly which new diff cover I will get. I replaced stock diff oil to Mobil 1 synthetic at 1000 miles. I hope you have better luck than me.
