What gear do I drive in city with "D" or "4" ???

I just bought my Titan today(8-18-05) I love it very much. I traded in my 1999 Dodge 2500 4x4 w/ Cummins diesel. I will miss the diesel part but anyway. What gear does everybody drive around town in? From past vehicles I never drove around in "OD" in town. But according to the manual it says to drive in "D" in normal driving conditions. What does anyone else think...

The only time you should need to drive in 4th is towing.

Drive in D-the transmission ECU will determine the right gear.

Just put that baby in D;it doesn't mean you will always be in 5th(OD) it just allows the transmission ECU to put it in 5th if it "wants"to.The transmission a selects the gear that best fits the load-throttle position.Congrats.Charlie

D is basically the overdrive gear, it might not go into overdrive but that's where it should be for normal driving.

Since I run bigger tires(34.5") I run in 4th around the street, this keeps it from hunting back & forth from 5th...

I drive in 4 around the city, no need for my truck to be in overdrive at 45mph. Even in 4 my rpm's are still under 2000 at 45mph

I run around down shifting with the little manual shift button so I'm in 4 more than D. I get good milage imo. There's lots of hills here plus I suffer from DILISIS (drive it like I stole it syndrom) so I like to downshift to help slow me down after passing tons F150's and Chevy/Dodges or what ever.

I bought my Titan a week after I got smoked by a lincoln aviator at a stop light. My frontier has since had a For Sale sign in the window :P . I havn't seen the aviator guy since, (yes I've been looking ).

I hand shift mine frequently. Especially when its 100+ degrees out. I'll run it in 1st and 2nd at higher RPM's to get that AC pump spinnin.
Also, its nice to run around in 2nd at 3,000 RPM or so and then romp it and listen to your buddies say "jesus, this truck hauls!"..

Varies...

4th around town... D when I hit the freeway or a long road in a big city ( Here at home no streets would warrant D ( OD ) ...and of course 4th and VDC OFF when teaching somebody on the road just how fast this big ole truck is
