Interesting story I thought I would share with you all. My good friend works for the local hospital and his security buddy just bought a 05 CC 4x4 LE. My friend has always loved my truck and I guess his co-worker was looking for a full-size truck and my friend kept telling him how good the Titan was and how he wanted to get one. Lone and behold his work buddy went out and test drove one and drove home with it. Now for the good stuff... Last night they both went to the bar together to watch football (in his new Titan) with 3 more guys in the back seat for a total of 5 dudes in the truck. My buddy Rob was telling me that the whole way his co-worker friend was showing off how fast the truck was and each stop light he was power braking and would let them spin until they were engulfed in a cloud of smoke. They apparently did this about 8 lights and finally a kid in a Chevy Colorado pulled up and wanted some. Dill nutts decides to power brake again and once he let of the gas for his launch a incredible loud pop and then grinding. Yup thee ole rear end was done for. I thought it was funny since the guy has only had the truck two weeks and he is already running the crap out of it. I wonder how many more failures out there are from burning them off like that. My theory is the limited slip kicking along with all of the extra weight he had in the truck while he was doing this. I guess the guy is all butt hurt now.

haha, sounds kinda like tug a war'n with a Honda, and then being upset that the truck quit running!

Are you talking about braketorqing? You cant braketourq with the titan. As soon as you hold the brake and hit the gas it reduces the power by half. How do you powerbrake with that?

I guess if that is what you call holding your brake and then flooring the gas while in drive. Yes the Titan does do it. Before I got rid of my last Titan I tried it one time while tyring to race a friend in a Toyota Celica. Very stupid and not recommended but it can easily be done. When the engine starts bogging down releasing the brake just a tiny bit will give you just enough to get it going. Can anybody else verify this?

Yeah, it works, I just blew up the rear diff right in my driveway.
When I was in high school and into dumb stuff like this, we used to put line locks on the front brakes so we could spin the rear wheels.
Im not saying you cant do it physically. I can hold the brake and gas at the same time. What I am saying is the truck reduces the power to much for it to have the power to spin the tires. Or maybe its just my truck is the only one that does this. I have tried to do it. I have even tried to hit the gas and then the brake but as soon as I touch the brake and hear the little click, I get a significant reduction of power. Dont get me wrong I dont want to do this as the tires are way to expensive to be burning miles of of them for a little smoke. I tried this awhile back when someone else on this board mentioned the same thing. So naturally I had to try it.

I tried it once, but its very hard compared to a normal truck. When the power is reduced you would have to let off the brakes just enough. I think its easier said than done. BTW i never got it to just flat out smoke the tires on dry pavement.

You have to feather the brake pedal and give it just enough gas. Kinda tricky but it will smoke em down if thats what your in too. My buddy that was in the guys truck with the blown diff would not have made this story up.

So the trick is to not hit the gas all the way? Just touch it?

Do you honestly think that a big ol Titan w/300+ hp would brake from pulling a honda even with an e-brake on. If you do. You got no faith in your vehicle. The truck would ripe the honda to shreads if this actually happened.
My rear end broke and won't be fixed until November. Thats almost a month of non use to this vehicle. I love this truck, its why we bought it. Due to the crappy service I received from my dealership, I will NOT buy another Nissan. I also won't buy a Dodge, the dealership sells both, small island. I've met several people who traded in their vehicles, brand new, so they also won't have to deal with this dealership.

I wonder if it has anything to do with your truck being a 4x4? Naturally, I would assume that you don't have it engaged- but maybe something else internally is going on. I'm not technically savvy- so I'm just fishin here.
I have an XE with duals and a CAI- but am sitting on 20's- but can still power-brake it to spin the tires. I don't keep em going for very long (due to obvious failure reasons above and tire wear) - but the possibility is definitely there. I don't change anything either - ie: engage tow mode or shift out of OD. Who knows.....

Yes, I think yanking a 2,300lb car with the brakes locked could damage a diff and cause it to "brake". I'm no physics major, but that is more than just weight for towing resistance. Not at all like towing a heavy trailer. Please explain how dragging a car would "ripe" it to shreds????? Unless you are leaving slack, hitting the gas and jerking the car which would also be just a little rough on the diff. This is a 1/2 ton truck, not a tow truck. No drivetrain will last very long if you shock it by yanking objects, slam on the gas or, in the Titan's case with the ALBDS system, try to do burnouts or smoke shows.
