Any news about an aftermarket LSD?

Howdy all and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I have an '04 CC 4x4 Big Tow Off Road, and like so many, failed to investigate the factory e-locker functionality thoroughly prior to purchase, and only after the fact learned that it can only be engaged in 4-lo. Duh, otherwise owners could break hardware in daily street driving. Mad at myself more than Nissan or the saleman, who likely could not locate a differential if his life depended on it.

So after one Michigan winter I am ready to do something like have an aftermarket limited slip differential fitted. A lot of the driving I do ends up being snow covered roads but enough dry patches that I am reluctant to engage 4-hi due to our older-tech transfer cases (which will bind on dry pavement in turns).

Has anyone upfitted an LSD to a 2004 model? If so, what make / brand diff did you go with?

Two other points:
I asked my dealer for an estimate to fit the factory LSD from the 2005 model.....blah, blah, blah, over $4000, would need to replaced controlers, harnesses and a bunch of hardware, then the actual rear differential. Their recommendation (of course) was to trade the truck in on a 2006 model. Has anyone else received a similar response from their dealer? I was underwhelmed.

I have been extremely impressed with the Birdgestone Blizzak winter tires I have on a second wheel set for the wife's Honda Odyssey minivan. Bridgestone also makes Blizzaks in sizes appropriate for the Titan, including LT load range E models. Does anyone have experience with Blizzaks on the Titan?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Any news about an aftermarket LSD?

There is a thread about an attempted TruTrac install (Torsen style LSD diff carrier replacement). The splines weren't cut correctly on the part and he is waiting for a new one.

There is no factory LSD. If you don't get the e-locker, you get an open differential with ABLS where in the event wheel spin is detected, the brake caliper clamps the rotor on the spinning wheel.

Austin modified his e-locker to work in 2WD, 4x4 Hi, and 4x4Lo. The spider gears failed and he just got a new diff w/ e-locker under warranty.

TracTech, makes several products for other vehicles, including an Electrac which operates as a Torsen style LSD when unlocked and as a full locker when locked. The actuator sticks out from the diff cover and might get knocked off on rocky trails, but otherwise it might be the perfect arrangement if they decide to make one for the Titan.
