? about oil pressure gauges

I was wondering if everybodys oil pressure gauge moves when you are on the gas when the truck is warm ?
My gauge does not move from the center of the gauge when the truck is warm, it stays in one spot even if your on the gas hard.
Is this normal ?

Thanks for all responses!

Deep.

Re: ? about oil pressure gauges

You describe how my guage reads as well. Lots of needle fluctuation when it is cold, less movement as it warms up, and virtually no movement after running for 30 minutes or so.

Re: ? about oil pressure gauges

the guage is working properly.....when your engine is cold, the oil is thicker and that means higher pressures especially when "gettin' on it". as your engine oil warms up it, the guage will typically settle in the center. nothing to worry about as long as you dont get LOW pressure which=bad things for your engine....

The only reason I bring this up is that every 05 Titan that I have taken out for a test drive and some 06's even after 20 min. of driving the gauge read abut 3/4 to high while you are driving and if idling it will sit in the center, then when you hit the gas the gauge reads about 3/4 again while you are driving, this on a hot engine. All of them that I test drove were this way. But my 05 works like my old 04 Titan. That gauge never moved.
I'm just wondering if I have some low oil pressure.

Thanks for your response.

Deep.

Re: ? about oil pressure gauges

Hmm if your oil level is fine I'd say there may be a problem w/ your gauge. The gauge should rise when applying a good amount of gas (mine goes to about 3/4 at WOT).

Most all 04 Titans oil gauges hardly move when the engine is hot.
Nissan made some change in how the gauge works sometime late in 04.

Back in Dec. of 04 when I was waiting for my new 05 to be built I took out alot of 05 for test drives and the gauge moved real good when you were on the gas.

And same with the 06's that I took out for test drives this fall, gauge moves real good. My Jan built 05 LE the oil gauge does not move at all when the engine is hot and when you are on the gas. Why is my truck different from all the other trucks just wondering if I might have low oil pressure in the engine.

The dealer did try puting in a known good oil senser from a another 05 back when I got the truck in Feb.05. I have had some cold start up noise comming from the valve train. It's realy loud when it makes this noise but thankfully it does not happen very often.

Thanks for your response!

Deep.

Re: ? about oil pressure gauges

i should have noted that mine is a jan 04 build and at that time none of the guages were moving (up)when the engine is hot. as long as it shows when/if the pressure drops, then i dont care if it never moves.....

Re: ? about oil pressure gauges

The oil pressure guage on my '05 moves up when I hit the throttle.
What's strange is that the gas guage seems to move down when I hit the throttle..
