Installing AUX heater (coolant type)

I'm going to heat the bed (business purposes) of the titan. I have an ARE MX series cap.

I picked up an R-245 heater. It taps into your coolant line for heat and uses a 2 speed fan which runs off 12vdc.

The install instructions are vague so I'm not 100% where to tap into for the inlet and outlet.

Anyone recommend anything? I was thinking the return hose to the rad for the inlet of the heater then the outlet in the same hose closer to the rad to make my loop.

I'm no expert, but if you are tapping off the same hose, seems like you wouldn't get any flow. Like parallel versus in series. Make sense? It does in my head.

The Y's are angled for flow direction.

That's what I was thinking.

Hmm, I don't know enough about fluid dynamics to say for certain. I was just thinking path of least resistance. Once that loop fills up, I don't know if there'd be enough circulation. The instructions don't cover any of this?

Now that you put it that way I'm even more unsure now

I was thinking due to the angle of the Y it would have a venturi affect.

EDIT: I forgot to note the install instructions don't tell you how to connect to your coolant system.

Re: Installing AUX heater (coolant type)

How about putting it in parallel with the existing heater?

Re: Installing AUX heater (coolant type)

That was my other option. I haven't done much digging under the hood of this truck yet so I'm not entirly sure where the in and out lines are.

That's the best bet I think. I was just thinking it may affect flow to the actual heater if i did this.

Re: Installing AUX heater (coolant type)

Update incase anyone cares.

It's recommended to tap into the heater core in and out. I'm still unsure if I should tap in before or after the valve. I'd say before so I have the max temperature coolant running to the aux heater.
