Cost for rear differential assembly?

Dealers have been installing new differential assemblies for those of us that have been having problems. I realize that there is no cost to the dealer or to us since it is a warranty item. Does anyone know what the cost of the differential assembly might be, had we needed to pay for it? This information would be very helpful to me.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. - I did try a search because I thought this was discussed, but I still couldn't find the answer.

Re: Cost for rear differential assembly?

If you had to pay for it yourself, I can't understand why you would buy the whole assembly instead of just rebuilding the old one.

Here is pricing for just the housing:

Re: Cost for rear differential assembly?

So guys,

Start a special account now. It may come in handy.
(sorry to be pessemistic, it's just my take on it unless more folks with diff failures file a complaint.)

It takes 100 or less to get an investigation started, we have about 20. Usually an investigation is all that's needed to get a permanent fix.

Re: Cost for rear differential assembly?

How do I go about reporting my failed Diff? Since the new one was installed I have my truck back twice for a bad vibration at 25-30mph, the final word from the dealer today was they don't know what it is or how to fix it. And told me to live with it. Anyone know what else I can do to get this solved other than hammer the dealer with the survey? Thanks

That's the thread to report it here. There is a link on that thread to report it where it matters, NHTSA. It's easy and we need it reported, so please do.

As far as your dealer, give us a number and name to call, along with your first name, details on your truck, etc. and some of us will call your dealer for you. I will for sure. (If you choose) You can PM me with any more info. That usually makes a difference.

GoodLuck!!!!!

Re: Cost for rear differential assembly?

When I picked up the truck for the last rearend, I got the lady at the cashiers counter to look up the cost. Their cost for the differential (complete) was $2530. The regular differential with no locking was around $1800 (I did not write this one down). The cost installing and misc parts (fluids) was around $600 I think.

With two differentials, stripping and respraying the bed liner once, one whole bed replacement and repainting it, brakes 3 times, front driver and passenger seats, seatbelt recall, many AC parts, and the other items that I cant remember, they have spent a butt load of money on my truck. Why not buy it back and use it as a crash dummy truck. I would even pay to watch that!!

And the daily beatings will continue until morale improves.

Or until you figure out how to use their system against them.

My service manager quoted me $2700-$2800 for a rear axle assembly when he replaced mine under warranty. Last I checked, dealers still weren't able to buy pieces/parts - they can only order an entire axle assembly.

If Nissan doesn't have individual parts available soon I forsee lawsuits in the near future. The 1st poor bastard that breaks a diff. after his warranty is up is gonna be one pissed mother!

Re: Cost for rear differential assembly?

The $1900 my dealer was reimbursed for the differential must have been dealer cost, whereas the price they will quote you includes dealer markup.
