Just guessing...so don't flame me.

I thought I read that (on here) that the ECU doesn't control the tranney(??).
If I remember right, it said something to the fact that the ECU doesn't control the tranney, which has made it difficult in getting a decent programmer. Now what the device is called that's controlling it, I don't know, but maybe it's the 'other' ECU that you're seeing a part number for(?).

I'm going to swap out gears and see what happens...thanks for the second opinions.

the different ECU part numbers are from the main ECM computer units...one can confirm this at nissan-techinfo.com...keyword ECM NTB04-056a

According to "The Head" the tranny controller is actually in the transmission. He tore his tranny up.

I'd like to switch to the 3.36 as well. Very tempting. But I think I'll stick with my current gear set and wait for more better options to come out down the road.

They better hurry up. I keep finding myself cruisin' past the local Dodge dealer. That 3500 Cummins keeps calling my name...

Re: Truetrac in Titan - Review

I paid labor for a Auburn Gear install in my mustang, it was $150

And I think the TCM (transmission control module) is located right under the ECM, but not sure.

Re: Truetrac in Titan - Review

Detroit is going to have a limited run of Truetracs available in about 30 days from now. There should be 30 available, but all of those are spoken for already - to fill backorders, take care of people with problems, etc.

Production units will be available about 60 days from now.

I've talked with Ed, a friend at West Coast Differentials about getting a deal on these Truetracs. He's agreed to do a discount for us, based on the number of orders received. Our price will either be $493 or $454, depending on how many people order within the next week or week and a half. If Ed gets 10 orders within a week, we'll get the extra 8% discount, down to $454. Based on the amount of interest in this and other threads, I think we'll get the extra discount with no problem.

This is NOT a group buy. I'm not keeping track of who's purchased, who said what, who plans on purchasing, etc. I have no interest in this - I already have a Truetrac, and won't be buying a second one. If you want a Truetrac at a good discount, call Ed. I'm posting this to several different Titan forums with the hope of getting a high number of orders quickly to get the extra discount.

Contact Ed at West Coast Differentials:
800.510.0950 ext 113
800.642.0950 ext 113

Use order quote # 297634

These were selling for ~ $562 from Summit. Our price from West Coast Differentials will be $493. If a significant amount of orders are received within a week or two, that price will drop 8%. From $493 to ~ $454. Your credit card won't be charged until the unit ships.

Re: Truetrac in Titan - Review

Ed is looking up the carrier bearings. Likely only $30 or so extra, but they won't press them on the TruTrac.

I have a feeling Ed's line will be busy for a while.

Any reason you're getting new carrier bearings?

Some of my prior shade tree efforts messing with rear axles have resulted in damaged bearings when attempting to re-use carrier bearings. (probably using the wrong kind of sledge hammer or something) Also, I will have about 40,000 miles by the time this arrives, so I figure for about $50 extra, might as well have new carrier bearings and axle seals. Hopefully I can find a reasonably competent shop by then or else I may end up DIY, in which case I would take it somewhere and get the bearings pressed on with the loctite sleeve lock stuff.

For anybody with a low mileage truck that might be concerned about warranty issues, it would make it pretty simple to swap the OEM carrier back if the OEM bearings were left installed on the OEM carrier.
