My thoughts exactly on opting for the new carrier bearings on the TrueTrac....leaving the bearings on the original makes it a snap to throw back in for warranty ( Drivetrain is 60K not 36K so it makes sense ) or trade in purposes later if you wanted to pull it out for your new vehicle if applicable.....

Hopefully I can find a reasonably competent shop by then or else I may end up DIY, in which case I would take it somewhere and get the bearings pressed on with the loctite sleeve lock stuff.
For anybody with a low mileage truck that might be concerned about warranty issues, it would make it pretty simple to swap the OEM carrier back if the OEM bearings were left installed on the OEM carrier.
LOL. Is that fancy talk for "find the phone and the credit card with the lowest balance?"
No, it is ask the "boss" if I can get it. Ahhh, damn it it happened agian! Will somebody help me find my pants, somebody else is wearing them again.

Just called Ed and ordered a TrueTrac....opted for the new carrier bearings as well for just a few bucks more...also had to pay tax since they are Calif based...I am also taking the drive north ( Bout 2 hours tops ) to their own shop to have them install the unit ( Ed said 150 sounds about right for the install but that I had to call their actual shop for a real price quote ) ...I asked him to forget the shipping and just to call me when they came in and I would drive on up for the install...he said no can do for the price quote given...it has to ship to me and I have to carry it back to the same place it shipped from for the install ? Weird , but I didnt care...least its gonna get installed soon is all I care about. Thanks Austin for your efforts in this...it was greatly appreciated !!!!

At the risk of sounding like a used car salesman...
Get 'em while they're hot!
Call Ed today, because the price is going up on Monday. Any order received today will be locked in at today's rate, but orders received Monday April 3rd or later will pay more.
I just spoke with Ed at West Coast Differentials, and Tractech (aka Detroit) has sent out a price increase. Our price is going up, from $493 to $532, effective Monday April 3rd. Any order which has already been placed and any order which is received today will pay $493 (which will likely be dropped down 8% to $454). Any order which is recieved on Monday or later will pay $532 (which will likely be dropped down 8% to $490). Again, this is due to a price increase from Tractech which was just sent out today.
As of 1130am Pacific, Ed had 8 orders. Pretty good considering it's been less than 24 hours. Assuming he gets 2 more orders (which seems like a safe assumption), the lower price comes into effect. So, orders received on or before today will pay $454, and orders received on Monday or later will pay $490.
The 8% price reduction which occurs at 10 orders will happen automatically - so, if you were paying $493 you'll pay $454, and if you were paying $532 you'll pay $490.
The price increase from $493 to $532 is effective Monday. Order today (Friday March 31st) to get it for the lower price.
Does that make sense to everybody?

Makes total sense...I guess he just couldnt outright come out and tell me that......but then again since I had mentioned talking to Austin he was thinking I was from Washington and said no taxes until the very end of the order when he was getting my shipping address did he say " Oh ...you are in California....then I have to re-write it up to include taxes since we are Calif based "

The Detroit Electrac functions as a heavy-duty limited slip differential and a driver-activated fully locked performance differential.
With a simple push of the dash mounted button, the Detroit Electrac becomes a 100% locked differential. When activated, the unit provides maximum traction for off-road or high performance operation.
When not activated, the Detroit Electrac provides the traction of a high performance limited slip differential. As a limited slip differential, the Detroit Electrac offers continuous torque biased traction with the flexibility to operate effectively in a wide variety of both normal and performance driving conditions.
Detroit Electrac is a differential that delivers options unlike any other. The Detroit Electrac’s shift fork engages the trigger ring to either lock or unlock the unit.
The Detroit Electrac is designed for vehicles with a 12-volt, negative ground electrical system. A wiring harness, ground wire and switch are provided with the Detroit Electrac.
Thanks for all the info, my 2005 failed last saturday with 24,000 miles. At least two more weeks before I get it back, what a pain. If this will fix it for good, it would be money well spent.
95 Wellcraft Nova Spider 454 Magnum (350 hp)
73 mph (GPS) It really likes the gas too!
89 SE V6 hardbody w/320,000 miles used to pull
my boat.......(needed a bigger truck).
Options in order:
2 degree timing advance thanks to Titanblue,
Fram AirHog, Nissan Hood Protector, Truxedo, Nissan XM receiver (mounted under steering wheel area as per Forum recommendations....worked like a charm)
with non-Nissan much smaller Xm antenna (mounted through Third brake light hole...piece of cake), and last....so far, PRG leveling kit (love it....no problem install after I realized that I really should listen to PRGreg about disconnecting the anti sway bar)
With my second OEM rear end I had a clunk from the rear. From reverse to drive or vice versa, I'd get a solid clunk. That clunk is gone with the TrueTrac.
Other than that, no difference in sound... no new sounds have developed.
I too have the clunk between drive and reverse. And it seems to be getting worse. I now have 42000 on the original diff. I did change to synthetic at around 3000 miles. I worry about these reports of failures because I pull a 4000 lb. boat around alot in the summer. It is nice to know we now have options. Thanks again for getting back to me on the noise question. A buddy of mine has a mustang that he just changed the diff in and it has a whine that I wouldn't be able to tollerate if it were mine. He said that he was told it is normal with the Motiv gears limited slip.
