Flush or replace?

I have always done tranny flushes. None of the dealerships around me do flushes, just drain and fills. What did you do on your tranny fluid changes?

Re: Flush or replace?

Nissan recomends a trans. flush every 30k. We flush all transmissions at our dealership. We fill the machine with 14.5 quarts and a can of BG trans. flush fluid. Then when the flush is complete we add one more quart.

Re: Flush or replace?

I called all the Nissan dealerships within 50 miles of my house and none of them do a flush. It's just drop and change about 5 quarts. How many quarts do I need to buy for a full flush?

We put 14.5 quarts in the flush machine plus one can of BG trans. flush fluid. Then after the flush is complete we add 1 more quart. So 16 quarts all together. The trans. holds 11.5 quarts. The rest is in the trans. cooler and lines. You have to have a transmission flush machine to do the complete flush. They are not cheap.

Re: Flush or replace?

I tried to get the tranny flush done too, but my dealer said they only have one machine and it has been running fluid other than Nissan Matic J and they don't want to contaminate my tranny or mix 2 different tranny fluids.
I found this out after waiting for about an hour.

Re: Flush or replace?

We use our machine for all Nissan transmissions. We will use it on a Titan and then use it on a Murano with the CVT. A little bit of different fluid won't hurt the trans.

Re: Flush or replace?

TitanTech is correct. What's worse, a very small amount of another fluid or 10-11 quarts of fluid with 30k on it? I have always adhered to flushing.

Re: Flush or replace?

Some dealerships are different but we charge $99.95. Our shop rate is $77 an hour.
