Hard shifting

I just installed a Volant CAI 3 days ago today while driving on highway and city streets my trans was delaying gear changes and slamming to gear! Any input and could it be related to the CAI?

Re: Hard shifting

Slamming into gear usually results in a bad tranny or torque convertor going out.Intake shouldn't cause irradic shifts of your tranny.

My thoughts exactly, just wanted to be sure before taking it to the dealer for warranty purposes!

Re: Hard shifting

check to be sure the cone filter and tubes are secured. I fellow titan owner I know had some weird bogging on his stock truck because 1 of the clips to hold down the top casing wasn't locked.

Re: Hard shifting

Recantu: on the intake I have the lid screws on. I can see how that would cause problems though. Thanks for the input

Re: Hard shifting

also check to make sure the MAP sensor is properly connected (dont know where it is, havent looked at my truck much, only had it 2 weeks) but the map tells computer about engine load and if it gets false readings it will probably shft when it gets to a preset speed or redline or maybe not at all..

Re: Hard shifting

After any mod, you should reset the ECM.

Re: Hard shifting

Did you get the MAF(Mass Air Flow) sensor hooked back up? My Ford Ranger would shift just like you described if I pulled off the MAF connector....and it wouldn't set a code for a VERY long time!
