Changing Fluids

Sorry, but I know i've posted something similar to this, I don't know that much about oils and stuff but soon I will be hitting my 6000mi on my Titan and was thinking about putting Royal Purple through out the whole truck. I wanted to put Royal Purple for my Engine Oil, Automatic Transmission, Rear-End Gear. I couldn't find Royal Purple for the Front-diff and another person told me to use only the "Nissan ATF" any suggestions?

As for weight what do you suggest

Engine Oil:

Automatic Transmission Fluid:

Rear End Gear Oil:

Front-end gear oil:

Thanks for the info.

Re: Changing Fluids

I use amsoil 5-30 in the engine, the rear and front axles use syn already and dont touch the trans, use only the nissan fluid. Some here have been using mobile 1 0-40w syn

Re: Changing Fluids

I would strongly advise using only the Nissan Matic J in the automatic transmission. I'm having a big problem with my dealer because I had an independant shop change my ATF at 15000 miles. They used what Castrol says is their Matic J equivalent. My tranny is slipping a little now and the dealer is saying it's not covered by the warranty because of the other fluid. So, I paid for a complete flush and now I'm taking it to a different dealer. It's just not worth the headache, IMHO.

Re: Changing Fluids

If you have a front differential, you have a transfer case that needs fluid also.

Royal Purple 75-140 and 75-90 can be found at Amazon.com

Re: Changing Fluids

For the past few years I have run nothing but Mobil 1 in my vehicles. Has anyone compared Mobil 1 to Amsoil? I can't find any independent tests, and I don't really trust Amsoil's test that say they are just better than all the other synthetics in every category.

I changed the differential fluids in my Grand Cherokee to Amsoil and ran Mobil 1 in it and averaged about 1-2 MPG more than my Mom's identical model with less miles on it running on all dino fluid.

I believe the comparison tests you are referring to are annotated as having been conducted by an independent lab. AMSOIL relied upon some of the most prestigious research/testing facilities in the nation to test their new air filters. AMSOIL is very proud of their products and they have historically published the results of various comparison tests right on their bottles. I'm not aware of any competitor objecting to the results of the tests, filing lawsuits or publishing contradicting results of their own; so one must assume they're correct as published.
