Yes you can. BTW, it's transmission fluid in the transfer case. Nissan Matic D or any Dexron III or Mercon ATF will do (see attached). I used Mobil-1 synthetic ATF. Works great! Be sure to place your drain pan back a bit from the drain plug because it throws a mean stream!

Re: transfer case fluid...

I have been running Amsoil ATF in the transfer for 6 months now. Good stuff.

Same here. I just changed mine the other night. Initial stream overshot the funnel and then when it started started going in the funnel I dropped the drain plug in there and clogged it Good thing I put down a big piece of cardboard. No oil on the driveway, just all over my arm and clothes

I just used some Napa house brand dexron III ATF I already had in my garage. Switching to Amsoil ATF later.

Re: transfer case fluid...

alright, i'll put the oil pan a little further. i plan on doing the transfer case this weekend with amsoil atf. i'll be sure to hold on to the drain bolt though. 1 3/4 quarts, right? anyone of you take more than that? just wondering.
