German Castrol 0W30 / My experience

Just wanted to let everyone know my experience with GC 0W30. I have an 05 with 12K on it and have been running the GC in it for about 6K miles. The truck performed good and seemed to get great gas mileage if this makes sense, but I noticed the engine ticking/knocking more than when the truck was new and it annoyed the heck out of me so I just switched to Mobil 1 5W30 with Mobil 1 filter and there is no ticking what-so-ever. I will keep everyone updated if there are any changes.

Yeah, I'm using M1 5W-30 no ticking anymore either. Others have had good results with M1 10W-30 and Chevron Supreme.

I had been using the 0W 30 and noticed the same ticking from the valve train. I switched to the 0W 40 and it seems so much more quieter.

Re: German Castrol 0W30 / My experience

I switched back to M1 0w-40 and seem to be having the best results. I tried Amsoil 5w-30 Series 3000 and M1 5w-30 and seemed to be worse. I don't understand it. I get some strange valve train noise with the M1 0w-40 on occasion but it seems to be when it is cold outside.

I don't know what to say, the engine runs great and the my Blackstone report was good but these Titan engines seem to be picky about oil.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the noise it just gets on my last nerve.

Things like this happen when you use an oil weight other than what the manufacturer recommends. Some have had luck with it, yes, but if the engine was meant to run on it, I'm sure Nissan would recommend it.
