New Amsoil 25k filters.

Should I still change them every time I change the oil?

Re: New Amsoil 25k filters.

I wouldn't go more than 7500 miles with any oil filter. Just my preference.

Re: New Amsoil 25k filters.

Man your pushing it! I used to go 10000 on their old ones but after seeing the oil come out i won't even go over 6000 on an oil change. My MPG would go down as the oil aged. I think it got thicker or something like that...looked like black syrup.

No The oil filters say they are good for 25k, but I only used it for 5000. LOL I guess I'll eventualy just have to send in another analysis.

Re: New Amsoil 25k filters.

I've heard things about some grades of Amsoil, like the 0w30 changing viscosity and getting heavier. I do believe Amsoil stands behind their products so if they say the filter will go 25,000 it should do it. Someone on another forum said they cut it open and it looks very similar to a Perculator (sp?) One though. Doesn't mean much to me, but it may to others.
I did my oil last night with Amsoil and put the Amsoil filter on. Unfortunately I dented the crap out of it trying to get it somewhat tight with a pair of filter wrench pliars (stupid I know) and had to trash it and put a Mobil 1 on.
Althought some people swear by Amsoil and being able to go the distance with it I personally think oil, even the high priced brands like Amsoil is just too inexpensive in the big picture to risk doing that much of an extended drain interval. Not to mention Nissan will take your warranty and flush it if they catch you doing it. I'll stick to the max 7500 mile interval Nissan will allow, and thats even pushing it for me. My .02.

Re: New Amsoil 25k filters.

At 1000 miles I put the new Mobil extended life oil, 15000 mile stuff. I have changed it twice since so far at 6500 mile mark and replaced the filter. The oil looks good but I can't bring myself to go much further. But with the price of dino oil, fully synthetic is the way to go. First oil change I used a fram Tough gaurd. Second and Third I used Mobil 1 filter.

Re: New Amsoil 25k filters.

I usually change every 5000 miles and have the tires rotated at the same time. I've found it cost the same or less to have them do it. I tried Mobil 1 Synthetic and it did nothing.
