Well, submitted complaint with Nissan USA and got a return call from a "regional manager", he "says" he submitted a "financial assistance" request to replace my driver side rear main seal, but it was rejected and that there is nothing more he can do. He says that NissanUSa said my case is closed and they will not acceptanymore requests from me for assistance...as if I have asked for it before (this is my first time ever). He says my truck is out of warranty at 62,700 miles on odo, which is true, but I told him this is an ongoing issue with the older model titans, and that there are others who have 63k and 65k on their odo and Nissan stepped up to the plate and did a good-will fix, why not on mine. he says it is a case by case basis and he does not know what the criteria is...anyway, long story short, I gave him a few choice words and an earfull of what I thought....basically stating that in this market, it is harder to sell these trucks, so why would you dump your loyal customers ina time of need? Anyone know if there is someone higher I can go to about this? thanks....
I had a 75,000 mile warranty on my KC '05 2x4 and noticed the axle end seals leaking at 76,000. I contacted my dealer and they would not even talk about it. After seeing all the same problems on this site, I contacted customer service at NissanUSA and was able to get a real person. At the beginning, they were not willing to do anything since my warranty had expired and would not admit that there was a problem. But since the sqeeky wheel gets the grease, I called and complained several times a day and for about two weeks before they finally agreed to pay 50%, which was about $300.00.
After this was fixed, it lasted about 3500 miles before it started leaking again. The dealer that repaired it would not warrant their work, so it would be up to me to fix it myself. I noticed it leaking while I was out of my home area and needed some rear end dope. The local NAPA store did not have the required weight of dope, so I used some LUCAS synthetic that was a little thicker. The LUCAS has stopped the leaking and I have not needed to add any more since. This happened at 79,500 miles and I currently have 130,000 miles, it seems to be lubricating sufficiently.
up date. dealer replaced complete rearend. date shows 7/18/08 on date rear ebd was made. Has any one checked to see if the new rear has the same gears that the old one has. My new has 3.4 gears. I have the big tow. Do the have different gears if you have big tow or not. how do i report this is it under autos or parts.
8/8/08. Just had my truck up on a lift to have an exhaust put in and notice my right rear axel seal leaking. Had it replaced this afternoon at the dealer to the tune of $300. Wish this were a recall. hope there will be no more leaking.
I did the vent mod when Nissan replaced my axle. 17k later my passenger side seal goes out. So much for the vent mod.

My passenger seal went 2 months ago at that time I had about 24k mi on it. Had it replaced and then my drivers side went at 26k. Replaced the seal and the bearing..Yikes!. All done under warranty but I real don't want this to happen again.

Well, I finally got the dealer to fix my leaking driver side axle seal. I bought another car from them, a new 2008 Nissan Quest S,part of the deal for me to close on the deal was that they fix my axle leak on my Titan, they agreed, so wife has a new car and my Titan is fixed....at no cost to me....that I know of...lol.

Add me to the long list of seal failures. It's in right now getting the passenger side replaced. I noticed a wierd sound coming from the rear area (sounded like a tire going bad) and looked underneath to find the wheel covered in oil and it running down the side of the tire. Does gear oil have any effect on rubber? They said they had the parts. I guess they keep them in stock

When I was at the dealership last week getting a new axle installed for my both leaking seals, I asked if I could pay the difference for the lower gearing on the big tow axle and they said no. they can only do oranges for oranges he told me. That would have been sweet if they did it. So when they warrant the old axle they replace it with the exact same one. Now I am not sure if it is the axle that is on the 08 trucks with the larger axle and stuff, or is it a new production of our older axle? I have the 06 and am not sure. If anyone has an 08 axle with out the big tow package and can post all their axle codes on the site, I can take a look at my axle and we can see if they match. It would be a good thing if they put on the new trucks axle with the better parts, supposed to fix the axle seal problem, so I was told.
oranges for oranges....I think you meant LEMONS for LEMONS....
reported my 2004 CC both seals, not original owner, axles pitted, replaces seals and bearings one still leaking, Any Ideas?

My girl just took my 2004 Titan SE 4x4 truck in due to a leak last weekend. Transfer case seal is bad. While they were there, they noticed my rear axle seals were both bad. They have had my truck since Thursday! This has got to be a recall item. I was supposed to pick it up today, but I called and they said it will probably be tomorrow! What happens now?!
My truck (2004 w/ 59K) has an appointment next week to address a leaking drivers side axle leak, and intermittent rear end thumps and pops.
I'm REALLY hoping I have one of those dealers who will just realize that I have one of the problematic early build rear ends, and just replace the whole thing, versus fixing the axle seal and giving me the "could not duplicate" BS line about the rear end noises.
[fingers crossed]

OK - Add me to the list - 2005 CC LE Big Tow Jan 05 build date - 31,345 miles. Passenger side seal leaking gear oil down onto my brakes and tire. To the dealer I go tommorow so they can have a look. How do I get them to change out the rear for a new 08 type so I don't have to keep going thru this nightmare?

OK - Dealer said it's "Just an axel seal" and they have the part in stock. I left the truck off for them to fix under the warranty. What can I do to avoid repeat failures f this type on my 2005 CC Big Tow - Build date Jan 2005?
