full floater

Since Titans use a Dana 44 rearend, has anybody tried bolting on a spindle from a front Dana 44? We used to convert Jeeps this way all the time because they would bolt right on. By going full float, we can use stonger axles, carry more weight, and maybe eliminate axle seal problems.
I haven't found a spline count for our axles. Does anybody know?
What carrier do the 4x4s have up front? Spline count?
Lastly, I know TruTrac is a good diff. In my last rearend I tried a Loc-Rite, 3 times, before going with an Eaton (GM 10.5 14 bolt). I loved the LR offorad, but it was a pita on the street. Is anybody running anything besides the oem locker or TruTrac? What are the characteristics?
Thanks, BRUNDY

Re: full floater

Here's a good thread on the TruTrac: Truetrac in Titan - Review

Our axles are 32 spline.

More good info on the rear end: Differential Info

Just to clarify, we have a Dana rear end based on the "Super 44" used in some Corvettes and Vipers. It's not a "Super 44" either, just a variation of one. Actually the Titan has pretty good size axles, the ring gear is a little small in diameter(about 8.5") but the weak link seems to be the spyder gears...
By the way a great idea, converting to full floater.

Re: full floater

Just my luck. One reason I bought this was for the rear end. Nissan used Dana 30s in front on their minis. What are they using now in the front of Frontiers & Titans?
Thanks for the info...

According to The Head's measurements, it is 9", not too shabby. Agree on the spider gear issue though.
