I'm thinking I'll be lazy and let the dealer change my oil on the new titan for a while. But I must ask:
1. Did I read it wrong above, is their some sheild I have to remove to get to the filter??
2. I also saw somewhere that you have to put a new crush washer on the drain bolt every oil change???
Yes and Yes.
The crush washers are very inexpensive though. I buy them by the dozen at the dealer. I currently have two Nissans that need them. So I go through them quickly.

arghh, don't be lazy! changing your oil is too easy not to do yourself! and yes you'll need to remove the offroad skidplate, if you have the OR package, or if you have a non-OR package titan there is still a basic thin skidplate you'll still need to unbolt! very easy though! and although the old school of thought is to always replace the crush washer it won't kill ya to not change it out and keep the old one. i just changed mine out just recently when i changed my oil but prior to that i left the old one in on two previous oil changes. i asked a Nissan tech if that were okay and he said its fine so long as there's a washer. so don't sweat it but do know they're cheap and if you know the parts guy or if the parts guy is cool, he'll give them to you for free!
I still have the original "crush washer" on my drain plug and 80k miles on my truck with 3k mile oil change intrivals which means that replacing those crush washers , even if they were free, is a waste of time...and a waste of time is a waste of productivty....and wasted productivty is the leading cause of global warming and third world famine....soooo, those of you who replace the crush washers are destroying the World.

sh!t, Mr.Beezlebub!! you took the words right out of my mouth!!
Well after working 10 hrs. today , I drink a 12 pack and get the great idea to change my oil for the first time in the new Titan. I purchased the oil last weekend ( Synth. QuakerState Q for those who are wondering with a WIX oil-filter @ almost 3000 miles).First I couldnt get the Da@! filter off so I had to drive my race truck "94 Dakota" to AutoZone with a good buzz on to get something to get the filter off. I finally got a socket looking thing to fit the mickey mouse filter, came home and took the filter off without the police knowing Then while putting the dang metal guard thing back on I broke a bolt off in the frame by tighting too much! Got that out with a hammer and center punch and hoping the local dealer has the bolt I need in stock in Tomm. The Moral of this story is dont drink oil while you change oil
Actually the moral of the story should be don't drink and drive
