Re: Need help with oil sender location?

This may help spark this topic, hope....
My reason to ask is because recently i switched to another filter made by Wix/Napa and the oil pressure during startup would read higher than "normal". Previously using Purolator Pureone's would have the oil pressure needle peaking at the midpoint during startup. I wonder if it is the oil filters that are elevating the pressure. But i find this interesting because i think that normally a filter adds up to nothing in added pressure production ..maybe 2 psi added during startup. It should gain or peak at a certain point and then the needle slows and finally comes to rest at a peak pressure. I understand that the pressure or the needle would fluctuate during warmup operations for about the first 10 mins. Then afterwards, the needle should stay still at the normal (midpoint) range.
From what i've researched, I believe the pureone's are more restrictive in terms of oil flow (but they are one of the best for filtrations). The Wix/Napa are very good at filtering but has better flow, in a downstream PSID comparison. So, the pureone should be more restrictive than wix at startup. But greater flow/less resistance should mean lower pressure at startup. Wix shows a higher pressure. The only way i see this happening is if sender/sensor is between the pump and the filter ..and that I don't reach the relief setting ..but the wix/ napa oil filter is showing more resistance then a PureOne. The only instance that this makes sense is where the relief isn't integrated with the oil pump and the system is relieved down stream from the filter. Plus, the difference in viscocity of an oil shouldn't matter because a thicker oil should mean that you remain at peak pressure longer...
So can anyone tell me if i should believe that the oil filters are causing the elevated pressure during startup?
