lag

i bought an 07 KC 2 weeks ago. it will spin the tires from a stop(but not for long). then it seem like power falls off. also when truck is rolling 15-20 mph and you put the pedal to the firewall there is a noticable lag, then boom your gone. Is there any remedy for the lag?

Re: lag

The tire spin followed by the engine losing power is caused by the Vehicle Dynamic Control which cuts engine power by eliminating cylinders until wheel spin stops. In its default mode it is active but can be canceled by a button on the dash.
Personally, I hate it and it has gotten me hopelessly stuck in a situation where wheel spin and momentum were vital. Now when I'm off the pavement it gets switched off right away.

Re: lag

Also, if you just bought your truck 2 weeks ago, I'd suggest laying off WOT until you get it good and broken in.

Re: lag

Actually, going WOT won't hurt a new truck unless you're doing it at every single stoplight. When I first got my truck, I had it to WOT more times than I have in the last 4K miles. I've got 8,500 miles so far and I haven't been to WOT since the 4k mile mark. The only thing you need to be aware of is to vary your speed and rpm with no towing within the first 1K miles. Sustained steady-state cruising on the highway is a not recommended during the break-in period.

How can you spin your tires from a stop? Most '04-'06 Titans can't do this unless you do the "Misery Tom" burnout mod. I can get a pretty good chirp, but I can't really spin them on my '05. Did Nissan change this on the '07's or something???

i dunno, but i can get a real nasty spin from a dead stop. it doesnt spin for long before the power cuts but its definitly more than a chirp

Do all Titans have VDC? If so I can't find a button to turn it off in my '05 LE CC.

Re: lag

I was told by a Nissan person that this device that cuts down on power was added by Nissan recently to prevent burnouts...and can only be bypassed by using a aftermarket device to bypass it.

There have been multiple threads both here and on CT about this.

There are several members here that can assist with this.

Re: lag

I can get the tires to spin for about a second or two' but that is all. The other day the streets were wet from a light rain, so I tried flooring it from a dead stop to see what would happen. I spun the tires for as long as I had my foot in it. I let off when the back end started to come around a bit. I guess this anti-slip thing only works at low rpms??

O.K. here goes. Where can i get this device you speak of? and is the VDC the reason for the lag when i hit the gas? my truck is an XE and i don't have a button for VDC. i did notice it in the other models when i was shopping. Do you think my dealer would install that control?

It has nothing to do with anti-slip.

It's a new device Nissan has added to prevent burnouts (stepping on brake and gas at same time). This is Nissan's way of lowering warranty costs, so I've heard..

There's a thread over on CT that goes into detail on how to bypass the device. Just type.. burnouts ..in CT's search area..about 10 threads down.

See post #14....

VDC not involved.
