Front and rear diff's cap's?
Transfer case cap?
Also what fluid in the transfer? I see the manual calls for Nissan matic D but is that the same as ATF Dexron III?

Re: Fluid Capacity?

I used Mobile 1 synthetic ATF for my transfer case. When I took the drain plug out and drained the stock oil it was black and there was some metal shavings all over it (a bit larger than the metalfilings from the DIffs). Iw ould describe them as small metal flakes rather than the powdery filings from Diff wear.

I'm not sure if this is normal or not?

I filled my front with 1.75 quarts on my 4x4, but it seems to be spitting some out the overflow tube as if I over filled it. I beleive thats where I'm leaking oil from anyways. I think the vent hose comes up into the engine compartment right in front of the smog pump?

My Rear took over 2 quarts. Can't remember the exact amount, but it's alot less than 3 quarts.

When I fill my diffs I fill them untill it overflows then I wait for all the excess to drain out of the inlet and put the plug back in with permatex thread sealent. Not sure if this is the correct way to do it after my experience with filling the front?

Re: Fluid Capacity?

Dealer said it takes 1.5 quarts, and I overfilled mine. Probably right because I have fluid coming out of the vent line...
