Re: rear diff fluid

Others are more experienced than I but I believe the 85-90 was stock in 2004 and they now recommend 75-140. How many miles do you have on yours?

Re: rear diff fluid

ok i looked in 3 books at work and all recomend 85-90 in the rear diff for all titans from 04 to 05. i even called the dealership (baker jackson nissan) of 290 in houston and they recomended 80-90. im sorry but there is no need to insult where i work at i have worked from private mom pop shops to a dealership. only reason i work at an oil and lube shop right now is im goin to school and it works well with my school schedule.

Re: rear diff fluid

Nissan service manual for 2005 Titan rear diff fluid :

API GL-5 Synthetic 75w 140.

You might want to tell your shop Manager.

Re: rear diff fluid

After the diff failures, Nissan put on a diff cover that allowed a higher capacity and started calling for the different synthetic lube. Says it right on the diff cover and in the manual. This is from the manual of an '06.

Re: rear diff fluid

Those of us with early 2004's got a sticker in the mail, to add to the manual, that gives a new spec of 75W-140 synthetic fluid for the rear diff. It still has 80W-90 GL-5 oil in the manual. I think there was a published TSB about this also.

Re: rear diff fluid

Hey aaron77388, sorry if you feel like I personally attacked you. You are a good employee for following your company's policy of looking up the specs. But if your company's manuals are wrong then my original statement stands. Best of luck in your school studies.
