Engine rattle during acceleration

I have a 2006 Titan with 7500 miles on it. I'm hearing engine rattle during acceleration as the engine picks up rpm's just before the transmission shifts. It sounds like engine bearing noise of some type (main bearings, cam bearings?). The rattle is louder when the engine is cold, but it can be heard when hot. It sounds too solid to be gasoline "ping", but I tried a higher grade of gasoline and some octane booster and it didn't help.

Re: Engine rattle during acceleration

Mine does this too when cold. It takes a good 10 miles of driving before it goes away. I have the 2 degree advance. I have heard that the ECU advances more when the engine is cold so I attributed it to that. I also have had other Nissans rattle also because I advanced them also.

I make it a habit not to get on it at all until the engine is completely warmed up. And that is about the time the Tranny gets warm too.

Re: Engine rattle during acceleration

its just because your engine is so damn powerful hahaha

no but really...your engine is knockin cuz of putting cheap gas in it..get some sea foam i think its called...ill double check in 2 mins its in the install bay somewhere...pour that ish down your intake manifold and let that baby idle for about 5 mins..then go out and open her up...itll clean the junk right out of it.

one minute later: yep its called SEA FOAM, Muli purpose formula...get that ish and if you keep puttin crap fuel.dump that stuff every 2500 miles

Re: Engine rattle during acceleration

cool. welcome to titan talk...ya dont pour in octane booster...just buy use premium or plus, if you must...do not use regular for this engine.(aka 71)...theres some gas stations that have 108 too...fill up with that for like 15hp + haha just playing, but your engine will be a champ

This might be the case for some people but not me. I always run premium and I didn't have the cold rattle before the advance. But who knows with the crap they call fuel nowadays. I notice it more now because it's much colder now. Maybe time for some injector cleaner.

I agree with Sudden Urge, interesting 1st post.

Re: Engine rattle during acceleration

just throwing in my 2 cents worth, i have heard that before.
Sea foam is supposed to be great for "the pinging" motor. never tried it but heard that from a guy i used to work with yrs ago.
