2wd to 4wd conversion

How much is needed to perform this conversion besides tranfer case, front shafts, and front diff. I know they have some other stuff I'm missing. I'm just trying to get a cost on all parts. Are the parts for Titan/Armada the same for this swap?

Thanks,
Rob

Re: 2wd to 4wd conversion

You would have to fabricate and entire front suspension system amoungst many, many other things that have to be perfect so the truck wont fall appart on you when your out 4 wheelin. It is best to sell the truck and get a 4x4.

Re: 2wd to 4wd conversion

I would think the subframe, control arms, and spindles would be identical.

Re: 2wd to 4wd conversion

Go to the dealer, tell the salesman you want to trade your 4x2 for a 4x4, much cheaper that way.

Re: 2wd to 4wd conversion

Nah I don't need 4wd that bad. I was just trying to see what would be needed.

Re: 2wd to 4wd conversion

front & rear drive shafts, ecu, 4x4 switch, harnesses

The only way you could come out on this is to find a wrecked 4x4 with good parts for very cheap.

Re: 2wd to 4wd conversion

You could try a straight axle with locking hubs and an Atlas transfer case. So it would all be mechanicaly activated and wouldnt require extra harnesses?

My buddy converted his 2001 Frontier 4x2 to a 4x4. I will find his website and post it. His truck is AWESOME!

Re: 2wd to 4wd conversion

Here you go man..I know this is on a Frontier, but this might give you an idea of the work needed to do the conversion. This is from my buddies Frontier Desert Runner...It's now a 4x4 and is AWESOME offroad.
