Battery Rundown Protection

Well, it's been about 10 degrees here the past few days and my drivers door has been frozen. Sometimes it will open sometimes it will not, I've read all about that before though, just have been too lazy to go have it fixed.

Anyway, I came home from work last night and was going to stop and get the mail (I live in an apartment complex now, so there is one mailstop down the street from me). To spare myself the embarrassment of crawling out the passenger side while everyone was out shoveling, I just went ahead and parked my truck up at my apartment and walked down. In my haste, I somehow managed to leave the headlights on. When I went out this am to start the beast, hit the unlock button, crawled in through the passenger side again and noticed the dash lights were on along with the headlights. My immediate reaction was "Oh FUDGE". I expected it to not start. Much to my surprise, it fired up just like normal, even in these single digit temps. What a relief. I then remembered something about some type of battery rundown feature? Anyone know anything about this? Had the same thing on my S-10, but it didn't work very well.

Re: Battery Rundown Protection

Dont know about the battery rundown protection, but just took mine in to get the door locks fixed. It was approved and they are also fixing my faded sprayed in bed liner. Just waiting on parts. Sucks to have a 40k truck that you cant get in.

Re: Battery Rundown Protection

We have a "Battery Saver" lighting modual that turns off the interior lights off in about 45 minutes if left on, which has saved me 2 times already. I also found out this feature works for the cargo light as well.
I don't know about the headlights, this is the first I have heard on them.

I think that feature only works with the headlights. Those take allot more power, leaving your headlights on (if they didn't shutoff) after 8 hours would kill the battery, leaving your dome light on will take 24hrs as a guess to run the battery down.

The interior lights go off after 30 mins or so. If you open a door or unlock a door it will reset the timer. I just checked mine and I am very glad the cargo lights are also covered with the timer.

I was glad to find that out...Nissan should have put some type of indicator letting you know the cargo light switch is on...
