The other day I switched my 06 KC into 4wd and when I tried to take it out the dash indicator was flashing and it wouldn't shift out of 4wd. Swithed it back into 4hi and drove some more and then tried again, still nothing, finally maybe 4 miles down the road if shifted out of 4hi. Has anybody else experianced this? Also when going about 37 mph it really feels like the torque converter it locking up and as soon as I left off it kind of snaps out of it. Is this normal? It doesn't seem smoothin that range. the truck only has 5800 miles on it, and to me it should be a lot smoother cruiseing between 35 and 40 then it is. Any help would be appreciated
Sometimes if you are on the gas or in motion the 4wd will wait to disengage. I think the speed has something to do with it too. Also I think that the transmission it not as smooth in colder weather.
My 4wd seems noise and vibrates a lot when engaged. Is that normal?
shouldn't do that.
mine has been having a little trouble shifting out of 4wd due to the cold (5-15 degrees). the reverse trick always works, but usuall, just switch to 2wd, speed up a little and then coast for a couple of seconds.
had a weird one yesterday. at stop light, lots of ice. switched into 4wd, took off, and there was a lound clank from the rear as it slipped in. didn't like that at all...

Once you shift back to 2wd let off the gas for a couple of seconds and the 4wd will disengage. Or just let off the gas and give the pedal a quick tap. Works every time. There should be no need to stop and put it in reverse.
I switch between 2wd and 4wd all the time between speeds of 25-60mph.
Mine has been doing that since the day I bought her in "04". It is actually pretty normal, it is from not shifting it in and out of 4WD alot, I have found that every once in a while shifting it in and out of 4WD(preferably when it rains, road is slippery) alleviates the delay in returning to 2WD. In fact all my Previous Nissans(2 Pathfinders) were the same way.

My truck doesn`t do that at all and i hardly ever put it in 4wd...I have had my truck locked in about maybe 15-20 times since new and do not have trouble getting back to 2wd...No noise either as others have described....Can`t explain it.....Good Luck...
In the last 27 months I have gone from 2WD to 4H at least 1000 times and have never had any problems. Sometimes it takes a minute or so to for the indicator to go off, but backing off the throttle a couple of times helps it go back to 2WD.

i just coast for a couple seconds after switching back to 2WD and i've never had any problems or noises. i only use 4WD if i'm in mud or the white stuff, but it does get used fairly often here in ID.

That's 1.23 times a day you use 4WD at a minimum! You live on the top of a mountain somewhere????
This is what happens when you read the Forum while using a calculator...
I have had my light make a brief blip once after I returned to 2Hi but I always back up and haven't had a problem...
