Just like the title says, I was wondering if the Armada's are having the same rear end problems as us. I know it as an independent setup, but figured that it probably has the same center section. Anyone know anything about this?
I believe the Armada has the same rear, but the rear wheel suspension is independent, unlike the Titan.

Not being a smart@$$, but thanks for pointing out to me that it is an IRS setup and that the Armada might not have the same diff as the Titan.
Someone surely knows the specifics on the Armada Diff's, same, different, etc.. Any failures? Stronger, weaker? That was the kind of information I was looking for. NJ titan was on the right track.
I drive a 4x4 Offroad Armada. '04 model. I belong to a couple of the Armada boards. We are NOT, repeat, NOT having the rear diff problems reported here by Titan owners. Our guts -- ring gear, pinion, etc., are the same, but the housing is completely different, with fully independent half shafts, coil springs in the rear and air bladders to level the truck if you have the big tow.
I don't know why we are not having the problem, but our trucks are even heavier and have more weight over the rear axle. Speculation has been that the Titans and Armadas got different spider gears, as it seems that a lot of the Titan failures were spider-gear related.
I can't say why the failure rate is so much lower, but the consensus is that Armadas are not having the problem.
BTW, I have 42,000 miles on mine now. I tow an 8,000 lb. trailer fairly regularly and (obviously without the trailer) am laying down 14.9 second quarters in cold air.

The Armada does not have the same rear end as the Titan (not even the center section).
According to the Service Manager at Bill Ray Nissan, the Armada actually shares rear end hardware with the 350z (he wasn't kidding). He said the unit is very solid and is used in heavy racing applications (350z and Skyline) with no modification on engines producing 500 hp.
He showed me an Armada on a lift and also showed me a 350z...the differential looked identical. The gear ratios may be different...but it is the same hardware. The rear end shares no components with the Titan's Dana.
They had to replace my rear end at 3,000 miles. Since then, with the new part number, it's been bullet proof.

I have a 04 Armada and my rearend went out at 10,450 miles. I donot have the big tow and was towing a 28' 4500lb tt around 65mph. My tow limit is 6500lbs. I now use my 05 Titan. So far I have not had any problems.
