transfer case problem???

I have been noticing a clicking or clunking sound coming from the drivetrain when at a low speed ie 2 or 3 mph. when i switch from 2H to 4H this problem seems to go away, but once i switch back, it starts clicking again. almost sounds like its not completely dis-egaging?? anyone else encounter this problem??
