Having already tried the ground wire thing (didn't do anything at all) I went to the next step in resolving my engine tick at idle and when powering through gears (particularly between 2K and 3K). I tried Lucas oild stabilizer upon the urging of my good friend who is a gear head. Lucas oil stabilizer DRASTICALLY reduced this ticking in my truck. Overall engine smoothness is back and for 9 bucks, I can't even tell you how much better the thing sounds/feels winding out. It displaces one quart of oil for those of you unfamiliar with the product. I personally was not a believer, if it's so good why not integrate it into the oil? I'm not sure but my next venture will be a thicker oil, I'm running Mobil 1 5W 30 soon to be 10W. I will post when I have results for that.
Overall, buy the lucas and try it, you will be glad you did even if you're not having this problem in particular

I used to be a big additive user until I saw some of the things that can happen when you mess with the chemsitry of the oil...especially synthetic oils.
I'd reconsider the move to 10w-xx oil...nothing all that wrong with it, but the 5w, or even 0w is the best choice for lubrication during initial start-up...after that, it's all in the big number...go to a 40w if you want something different, only real disadvantage is that some say your fuel economy will go down with the higher viscosity. I use 0w during the cold "half" of the year, and 5w30 or 40 for the other half...always synthetic. No Lucas stabilizer, or ptfe, or anything like that. Let the good oil do what it's supposed to do.
All that being said, I do use the Lucas in very small amounts both in a couple of my power equipment motors (splash lubricated) and a little in one of my pressure washer pumps.

I dunno about air in the oil, but its been a while and that engine is still smoother than ever with the Lucas, I guess if it blows up I'll drain it and claim it under the warranty. Don't think its gonna happen though. I'll definitely trade a couple horse to get a smoother better lubricated engine though. Bring on the 10W 40

How often are you changing the oil? I use regular off the shelf Pennzoil 5w30 changed every 3k with 0 issues in my truck, as well as a truck that I maintain that is my04 with 100k on the clock now.
update on Lucas. The thing ran smooth as glass for a couple of days, now it is just the same if not worse. Going to change the oil to the regular stuff instead of the synthetic.

Why not try the 10w30? I have 5w30 mobil 1, and I have been told by the dealer that that ticking is normal, and its the injectors. Now I know that some of you have said that it is not the injectors, but EVERY SINGLE NISSAN I have had makes that noise, some louder than others.
List of cars that made the ticking noise
1987 Nissan Sentra
1987 Nissan 200sx VG30
1990 Nissan Maxima
2000 Nissan Xterra
and the newest 2004 Nissan Titan.... Still think its not the injectors?
I realize and appreicate that little noises can drive us crazy. My truck ticks a little. Having sent a used oil sample in demonstrating scanty wear metals (especially compared to big 3 engines IMO), I no there is no harm.
So if it ain't broke....

ya it's probably just one of those things, it is however very annoying, especially when it's cold... and it came out of nowhere. One day I was like, wtf is that tick, and the rest is history.
