Clunk after stop?

Ok so this has been happening since i went offroading about a month ago... I come to a full and complete stop and the truck is settled, then about 1-2 seconds later theres a clunk like someone is lowering the tailgate.

At first i thought it was my tailgate because its loose and missing a bolt, but the truck is settled when it happens.

Rear diff problem? Tranny going out? I have no idea where to start...Any ideas?

I get the same thing. For me, it's the black covers over the utili-track tracks
on the bed floor. They(covers) slide back when taking off, and slide forward when braking and hit the tailgate/front of box making a clunk sound.

I have the same prob.

If you have the utili track, put something in the track to make sure the covers are snug. If it still makes a noise... ?

Re: Clunk after stop?

Have you checked the spare tire? Is it still tight under the truck?

Re: Clunk after stop?

I dont have utilitrack (although it would be nice to have at times with the ATV in back), but ill def check the spare tire. If that isnt it, any real mechanical problems it could be? or am i pretty safe...?
