Torque converter lock up

First off , I'm new to the Titan , so if this is a dumb question don't beat on Me too badly .
In the other trucks I've owned the torque converter will lock up after the tranny is warm in about 1-2 miles . The Titan seem to take 3-4 miles before it wants to lock up . I'm fairly sure that this is normal for the titan , but just wanted to be sure . Thanks , John

I can't provide an answer to your question, but I did see your from Western PA, where at? I used to be near Punxsutawney until I moved to Lancaster a few months back.

Sudden Urge... Thanks ,that seems about right for mine ,depending on outside temps .
I guess I just have to get used to this truck . One thing I've noticed ,and appreciate is that the guages seem to give real readings ,as opposed to acting like idiot lights with a needle . I find it refreshing to see an actual reading on the guages instead of everything being in the center because the computer has determined it's within specs .

Re: Torque converter lock up

The computer looks at several thing before engaging lock up. For instance, is it in closed loop condition?... Coolant temp,...speed,...rpm,...throttle position,...manifold pressure...and certain self test diagnostic not taking place. Transmission operating tempature is not in the equation as far as I know. Hope this helps.

Re: Torque converter lock up

Has anybody hooked up a manual locking switch? You can do this on some other makes; does anybody know what wire(s) to ground on these?

Re: Torque converter lock up

It would have to be the TCC solinoid, but you would be splicing into a wire from the ECM. Personally I wouln't do that.
