slip light

I started noticing yesterday that my slip light hasn't been flashing. Our road is very slick right now I even slid into the ditch on the side of the road this morning and never saw the slip light. I engage the 4wd to get out of the ditch and still never saw the slip light. The light does come on when I start the truck. It used to flash alot on our road when the road was wet, but in the last 2 days nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: slip light

Any chance that you're spinning both wheels...Slip light only comes on when one wheel spins.

He's right.

SLP light comes on at startup as a diagnostic check.

Under driving conditions, the SLP light comes on when one wheel is spinning significantly more than the other and then your VDC would kick in to reduce that extra spinning. It may activate so that your SLP does not come on...

Re: slip light

They seem to be both spinning, but that is kind of unusal in itself. I do have new tires, I got ride of the stock and got toyo m/t's. I might go ride some more to see if I can make it flash. Btw I don't have VDC.

Re: slip light

Just went driving through some mud on my property and never got the slip light to flash. I gave up and then saw a old tree stump and put one back tire in front of it and finally got the slip light to flash. So it is working, but it used to be real easy to get it to flash. It just seemed unusual to drive through 3 miles of wet red dirt road and not get any flash from the slip light.

Re: slip light

i hadn't noticed my slip light until this winter, this if my first 4wd that i've owned personally so i'm learning a little.. the slip light only came on when i was playing in 2wd on some iced/snowy roads trying to fishtale.... it let little slips go, but when i got to major slippage it flashed me "put me in 4wd dumbass "

my dad lovingly refers to all dashboard indicators as "idiot lights"
