synthetic oil break in???

Hey guys, I'm due for my 1st oil change right away and wanted to start using mobile 1 synthetic but I was told that it is not good to use synthetics until about 10,000 Miles have been put on the engine so it can break in properly. My Nissan dealer told me I could use it right away?? Any opinions/suggestions? thanks!!

Re: synthetic oil break in???

Some of the fastest, highest revving engines in performance cars come with Mobil 1 from the factory. Start using synthetic whenever you want to.

Re: synthetic oil break in???

The main issue with breaking in an engine with synthetic oil is the piston rings. The extra lubricity can prevent the rings seating properly, or period, for that matter (about the only thing left in the engine that needs breaking in nowadays). But, it has been common practice to change the break-in oil after 500 to 1000 miles after rebuilding. So, you should be fine after the first or second oil change.......
