Nissan Differential oil after 27K w/TruTrac

Hey guys just wanted to show off the Nissan Fluid after 27K of use in the rear diff combined with the Trutrac. Looks pretty good. But did go ahead and swap out to Royal Purple today.

I did find some shavings in the oil but this was what I would consider normal break in. Since it has not been opened since the install. The 3.36 gears and trutrac coupled with the OEM aluminum fin cover seem to be working well at this interval.

I sent the diff oil to blackstone to see if they would analyze it for moly and metals. I also sent in my engine oil (mobil1 puresyn) after 4K which looked a bit darker than these pictures.

What is the consensus on the best diff oil to use? I am about to change the fluid on my 2006 4X4 (it is at 19,500 miles) and has the electronic locking diff.

Do I have to use any kind of special oil or like a friction modifier like some Jeeps with TracLoc need?

What have the fine folks here at TitanTalk used?

No additives needed. 75-140 synthetic (Mobil 1, Amsoil, Royal Purple . . . .)

Chose any synthetic brand you want of the 3 listed above. If you have 3.36 gears and no trutrac I would change your diff fluid every 35K (Normal driving no towing). If towing frequently I'd change 25K....just my opinion though.

Re: Nissan Differential oil after 27K w/TruTrac

Just got back the diff oil report. Seems it's doing great the combo of aluminum cover 75/140 oil and tructrac with the 3.36 gear. Here's what blackstone says.

Re: Nissan Differential oil after 27K w/TruTrac

I thought so too. Goes to show you that the oil is good when matched with quality parts. Just so much heat it can handle and fails. Hopefully Nissan/Detroit reads this.

So YES it is possible that you can have a good solid rear end. I beat this one really good and it's getting a little more than it ever thought it would right now.

Love it and I don't have VDC. I'm a rear wheel drive kinda guy. In the rain in very specific instances you can apply enough gas to spin you around while cornering. Obviously one will need to know to turn into the skid should it happen. Other than that I happier than pigs in the mud and I got a street truck...LOL

5 star rating.

It was Nissan Synthetic 75/140....it was good. But only as long as it's not getting cooked.
