Re: OIL Temp is constantly in the H

The only oil temp gauge we have is for the transmission. We also have an engine oil pressure and engine temp gauge ( mostly a water temp gauge). Assuming is the engine temp gauge the sender could be acting up or is dirty. Have you flushed your coolant system?

Learn how to boot the truck into diagnostic mode and get the real reading on the temps.
I know it can be done, I just don't know how. Somebody on here will.

You talking about booting the ECU or the gauge on the cluster?

This is the oil pressure guage, as mentioned above.

It will move to H upon hard acceleration, especially when the engine is not up to normal operating temperature. This is a real time gauge which you might not be used to seeing.

If the guage is staying on H, and you're not flogging it, then you have a problem.

Hope this helps.

Speedo area where you can bump through and look at all the individual details.

So what is the outcome. I am having the same exact problem and I am out of Warranty so I need to fix this myself.

So it is staying in H?

Or the needle blips into H under startup and heavy acceleration?

Re: OIL Temp is constantly in the H

Like everyone else here said - it could be a few things.

But if it CONSTANTLY reads H (like mine) it probably is a sending unit or the actual gauge itself. I havent taken mine in yet to have it replaced. I have an 04 LE.

Same here, not real worried though since it's pegged non running with the key @acc. mode.

Re: OIL Temp is constantly in the H

Yes it is one of the two. I have the same truck sounds like it should be a recall item. Mine is like that in the acc postion wich proves there is nothing wrong with the engine itself. Like you said the guage or the sending unit.
