axle seal repair

I bought my 2004 crew cab used with 58000 miles, $16k i might add, it was a "divorce sale". 4x4 Off road. Anyway I found the leaks when i went to test drive it, i knew what is was. I took it to the local dealer for the repair. Replaced both seals as well as the bearings. Question, do they replace the diff fluid for this repair? Cause if they do, they didn't. I checked the level it was about an inch below the filler level. when I drained it it was black. I put the moble 1 back in. I had the tranny fluid changed while there. They didn't notice the leaks around the cooler lines. Took it back and they had to replace the tranny cooler lines. This place also claims they can flush a tranny for $120. They must be able to get their fluid very cheap.

Re: axle seal repair

I had my axle seal replace and fluid replacement was not mentioned on the paper work.

Re: axle seal repair

I don't think that's part of it either. I watched about the last 15 minutes of mine being repaired at the dealership and they didn't add any fluid and none was pouring out of the axle tube.

Re: axle seal repair

May I ask how much any of you were charged for seal/bearing replacement? The passenger side on mine is leaking slightly, and I'd like to know what I'm looking at - thanks.

It should be free if you are under the 60k power train warranty that I think covers it. I happen to have the 100k warranty and am at 64k so I paid the $50 deductible which is better that close to $300 dollars I would have been charged.
