Should Nissan Differential oil be Changed out from 80w90syn to 75w140syn?
Was this a recall? And if something happens will Nissan replace replacement parts without charge.
The text that is now stamped on diff. covers should partially answer your question.
Even though the "new" diff is beefier and runs cooler, it needs the thicker oil. This tells you you the "old" style diff. needs all the help it can get by being filled with thicker synthetic oil.

To date, there's been no recall on the rear end, fluid, or otherwise.
There is a TSB that reads if a 2004 Titan is in for rear end service, the rear diff cover should be replaced with the larger finned cover and synthetic 75-140W fluid added.
Some people have been lucky in getting their dealers to switch out the cover and fluid for free-others, not so lucky.

That's what I was thinking of. Guess I should have worded my previous statement differently.
