Transmission concern - is this normal ?
Hello,
A couple of months ago we drove through Cajon Pass in southern California and I noticed that the transmission temperature nearly moved into the H area as we were climbling. We were driving with a 6000 lbs trailer in 3rd gear at about 50mph. I had to slow down to a trickle to keep the temperature from going into the H zone. I pretty much had to line up behind the single lane of trucks going 30-40mph. This is a 2006 Nissan Titan SE 4x4 w/ 17K miles, tranny fluid never changed and outside temperature in the 40s, no wind, A/C off, engine temp. normal.
I have never seen this happen before and I was wondering if this is normal or an indication of a tranny problem. My transmission temperature has always stayed slight below the middle even when climbing hills w/ trailer in tow in the hot Arizona weather.
Thanks,
Mike
