Finally installed the helper springs!

Well I finally installed the $30 helper springs and the clunking is gone. When I would come to a stop , I would hear a clunk. When I take off, I heard a clunk. Clunk no more. It feels like a new truck. I was so used to the clunk when I stopped, I found myself trying to pump the brake to try to stop the clunk. Did not help. If you have the clunk, the helper springs I bought at AutoZone was well worth the $30. Superior Automotive, Model:11-1020

Maybe because new coilovers are 10x more expensive than a level kit.

The helper springs are for the rear leaf springs though.

Re: Finally installed the helper springs!

i didnt know that

but i cant imagine that new coil springs are $800 plus

the reason i seggest it is because the noise people keep complaining about
with the leveling kit

Re: Finally installed the helper springs!

It is not just new coil springs, it is coilovers which include a new spring and a new shock. See, e.g., Donahoe, SAW, Radflo

Re: Finally installed the helper springs!

After 500 miles or so I have begun to hear some clunking back again. I read where if you put the helper springs on the front of the leaf springs it works a lot better. Maybe will try.
