Rear Differential Mod

OK maybe this is a little extreme but having read several threads on rear differential problems I was thinking that maybe there is an aftermarket gearing that would replace stock and give much better performance. If the Titan is out of warranty would this be a practical solution? I don't know where Nissan gets its differential but just possibly that same manufacturer makes a stronger one for a different customer that would retrofit the Titan.

Re: Rear Differential Mod

Currently there are NO aftermarket gears available for the Titan. The only option is a Tru-trac. Some gearsets are supposedly in the works from 2 major manufacturers, but so far, we have not seen any..... Check back later.

The stock ring and pinion in our rear axle has nothing to do with the rear diff failures. just replace the diff with a Trutrac and you'll be set for the life of the truck.

what would it cost to replace it with a Trutrac? break the cost down with the price of Trutrac and Labor.

The Trutrac is around $550 to 570; carrier bearings are around $35; install is $200 to 400.

Re: Rear Differential Mod

Are you sure a True Trac would keep the differential from failing?

When a "supermoderator" chimes in and doesn't dispute the facts shared by members who have been here for years (see their sigs and avatars), you can trust the answer. Yes, TrueTrac works, no worries. Doesn't turn it into a 1 Ton Dually Diesel, but outstanding 1/2 Ton Pickup! Loving mine!
