Question rear wheel seals

can anyone tell what a reasonable price would be to have my rear wheel seals redone? i only have 53,000 on my '06 titan. i am hesitant to take to a dealer. would this be an easy job to do myself. i am only somewhat confident in my ability to repair the seals.

Re: rear wheel seals

If it is the rear axle seals don't be hesitant take it to the dealer and have it done for free under warranty. I had about 66k on mine when I brought it in to the dealer and didn't pay a dime for it. I don't think anyone has had to pay for the replacement of the axle seals.

Re: rear wheel seals

I believe they must press the bearings off the axle for this job, or crack them off and press new ones on. That's what they did on mine anyway. Said it would have been roughly around $500 if it wasn't covered by the power train warranty ... 60K mile/5yr.

Re: rear wheel seals

If they are not leaking dont worry about it, its real expensive as well since you need new bearings.

Yes, expensive and requires specialized tools.

Re: rear wheel seals

If you have to ask, you should have someone else do them...Not a good first time project...
