True Trac discount

4x4 Parts offering $20.00 off to Titan Talk members. This is the best price I has seen yet. See the 4x4 parts vendor thread for more info. Been doing a lot of reseach on the True Trac as it seems to be high respected in the LSD market. Anyone have any off road experiences with it yet? Good or bad?

Re: True Trac discount

No one with off-road experiences, such as one wheel spin out while crossing deep ruts? Just needing info to see how it will perform. It would appear most people are using them for drag time improvements.

Re: True Trac discount

Diffs like this are great until one wheel has zero traction, usually when it is in the air. If you have the electronic system that will apply the brake to the suspended wheel and tire, then power will be sent to the wheel on the ground and you can keep moving, If you don't have the system and you have a wheel in the air you have to apply enough brake yourself to get power to the wheel on the ground. It's not as effective (because you are at cross purposes with gas and brake) but it works if you apply the right amount of brake.

I think driver's of early Humvees had to learn do this as they had Torsen differentials. Later versions had the ability to apply the brake to the suspended wheel. This is not based on real life experience as I haven't driven these puppies.

Re: True Trac discount

The truetrac should not effect your ABLS.
Here's the first member to ever have a truetrac on a titan.

I think his point was the ABLS is a good thing to have if you get the True-Trac ... TT needs a little resistance to engage. No ABLS, and you will have to use your brakes/parking brake or you'll just spin in some circumstances.

Re: True Trac discount

but then again, once you are in 4WD the front wheel should be able to pull you out enough to regain traction, right?

not necessarily -
if you are crossing something like deep ruts and have a front tire with little or no traction. The front is an open diff. so the tire with the least traction gets the most power!! We buy 4X4 to get two wheel drive

Re: True Trac discount

I took my 04 to the dealer after experiencing a tapping noise coming from the right rearend. The dealer checked and could not find the source. Their solution was to order a new rearend. I've read about trutrack and how many of the members love it. The only place I've checked was at Summit and boy...what a price! For those who have tru track, what other parts are needed for the install. Do you need to replace the differential cover?

Thanks.

If they're replacing your axle assembly, it will come with an updated vented differential cover, so you wouldn't need another one.

You have a P.M...
