Re: Dana's Response about failures

we did the drivers side axle on my 04' a year ago. the hardest part was breaking the seal (the outside seal) to get the axle out of the sleeve. like i said earlier, what you really need are a heavy hammer and some patience.

after you get the axle out you can bring it to a shop so they can take your old bearings out and then compress your new bearings on your axle.

last thing to do is install the axle.

one tip: we took the bearing off the axle ourselves and the dude down the block compressed the bearing for us for only $30

Re: Dana's Response about failures

"In model year 2008+, the axle shaft assembly design has changed with a larger shaft, larger wheel bearing, different wheel seal and added dust deflector. However, we are having some leaks reported with the 2008+ design as well, we are working on solving this issue as soon as possible. Nissan is pushing Dana Corporation very hard to resolve this wheel seal leak issue."

so if the above in bold is true then can we swap to 07 parts,(Axles, wheel bearings, seals etc?) and use the true trac.

OR

Modify the larger axle shaft or true trac to bolt in?

Is there anyone on here with knowledge on differentials and gear swaps, let alone some info on the 2008's rear end?

Re: Dana's Response about failures

Left rear axle seal went at 59,960 miles......fixed under warranty.
I have had the axle vent mod in since ~12K.
Rear differential blew at 69,960 miles....it's in the SM shop now. Not covered under warranty. I said I'm not paying $3,604.74 for a new rear when just a few gears broke. I called NISSAN1 and have made a case. They called me back and are reviewing my case.....said they will call me back today or tomorrow and let me know if they can help or not. If not I'm going with a trutrac.
