Just curious to see if anyone has opted to try the 0W oils that are out there? Looks like independent and company testing shows good results. I don't know why, but it just feels funny going to all these light weight oils. In racing lighter means more HP, but more likely to fail sooner under heavy conditions.
Yep, I run AMSOIL 0W-30 Signature Series with the AMSOIL EaO13 filter. Last run I went 13,850 before I changed. I don't have any problems running it.

Technically it shouldn't be any lighter at temp than a 5w30 or 10w30 oil as all 3 will have the viscosity of an SAE 30 oil when hot, the difference being the 0w30 oil will flow better in extreme cold which helps reduce wear during start-up and the first few minutes of running.
Unless you live someplace where you have extended periods where the temp is below freezing I see no need to run it. I haven't seen long-term test results on it, but I don't know what oil change interval is being suggested. Over time the additives and VIs will break down which causes the oil to slowly return to its base viscosity, the larger the gap between the two numbers (0 and 30 in the 0w-30) the more VIs are required to make that gap. 0w30 vs 10w30, the 10w30 will have fewer VIs and is generally considered to be a more stable oil.

Startup is the most critical point, so these oils make sense to me. No extended freezes here in Bama, but thats not my concern. I'm looking at better startup protection, longer service intervals (they say 17,500), and a good synthetic that wont break down on me. This oil is suggested for 5W-30 & 10W-30 applications as well.

Will do. I am running Mobil 1 EP right now, and have quite a while before next service interval. Just wanted to get some feedback on Titan applications.
I don't have anything terribly constructive to add, other than to say I run the Amsoil 0W30 in my Titan as well. Like you, I liked the concept of a high level of startup protection. I change it every 5K because I'm irrationally anal retentive.
Biggest downfall is it's pretty expensive for a simple, daily driver oil- and I'm even a dealer. Retail on it is about $11/quart, so figure nearly $100 for a Titan oil change with a quality filter and sales tax.
I got talked into trying the 0w-30 by my amsoil guy. I was really hesitent but it does work great. as Yaholligon said, its the same 30w viscocity at running temp, but it lubes quicker on starts. I did notice much less lifter noise when started and idling in the garage. I would have thought more.. but it was super smooth. Amsoil is also said to rate thier viscity lower than it actually is. And thats better for us. BTW my oil was still gold after 7000 miles of hammering it
Amsoil claims they gurentee like 25k on cars with this oil, if your using the filter wih it. Thats nice to know but i usually change around 7k to 10k

I'm like you guys......a freak about the oil change intervals. I just can't do it. Never could I let it go past 7500 miles. I am going to order an analysis kit for this Mobil 1 EP when it comes out. Then it's AMSOIL after that.
I signed up to be a "preferred customer" through AMSOIL, but not a dealer. Hell after i paid my dues a local rep contacted me telling me i could buy from him, and the prices are lower than mine. Damnit. The price is a little higher than regular oil, but service intervals & additional protection interest me more. I plan on keeping this truck till she dies.
Shoot, switching to 5w-30 was hard enough for me. I'm also paranoid about the oil, and don't want to hurt the engine. I've killed 2 engines in other used trucks before by running the crap out of them even with regular oil changes. I don't need any help making it worse. If 0w is better maybe I'll switch, but I need more reviews first.

I have been running 0W-40 and love it, but thought I would try the 0W-30......
