? for Synthetic Oil users, what does your oil look like?

I am 9,000 miles since I changed my oil last. I take it to a lube shop. I specify Mobil 1 extended performance (15k interval). What does your oil look like after 9k miles, pretty black or still has some brown to it? Thanks.

I use the same stuff, drain it at 7,000 and it is black, although this is essentially irrelevant. If you want to know how it is holding up, send a sample to Blackstone labs and get an analysis.

Like bestachess said. color has nothing to do with the quality of engine oil. M1 does a great job at cleaning cylinders. It's black because it's cleaning all the crap off the pistons and stuff. The oil keeps the particles suspended and makes the oil dark. If my oil looked clean after 9k I would be worried that it had no detergent value and didn't do any cleaning.
