adding factory cruise control

I just bought a 2008.5 CC without the factory cruise. I was looking into adding an aftermarket one but most of the reviews I read said they weren't that reliable. Would anyone happen to know if it would be possible to add the factory components needed and the ecu would be able to control it or would this have to be flashed onto the ecu, or would this be a complete waste of time and money?

Re: adding factory cruise control

You can get a titan without cruise control? how?
In most vehicles, adding cruise control is a nightmare and if possible at all requires swapping many components...several hundred dollars usually

Re: adding factory cruise control

i dont know 100% if the dash harnesses are the same, but i think they are. if so, bare minimum you would need to swap ecm, spiral cable, and add the cruise switches.

Re: adding factory cruise control

thats what I was thinking too. The programming could possibly be in the ecm and just need the switches and associated wiring. Do you think a service tech would know for sure if the programming is in the ecu for cruise?

Re: adding factory cruise control

I thought cruise control was standard on all Titan's? Did they eliminate that feature on the 2008.5's?

If that's true, sounds like Nissan is "decontenting" the Titan to increase amortization profits. I still can't believe it though. Jeez, what's next???....drum rear brakes like on the Silverado/Sierra?lol!

Try Copart. They usually have a dozen or so '04+ Titans.

Re: adding factory cruise control

cruise came on the '08 titans in the preferred packages. i got mine with the steel wheels and rear bumper because I plan on swaping them out. The truck is pretty much basic except for power windows and locks(which are standard on all titans). I'm going to call the dealership and see if they know if it is possible to add the switches and stuff.

My truck is a base "no frills" XE without the preferred package and I have cruise control, but manual roll up windows and door locks.

Not to sound smart allecky or anything, but you do know that our trucks have the cruise control function on the steering wheel right? The reason I'm saying this is because it can confuse some people who are used to the cruise control function being on a separate stalk near the turn signals like other vehicles.

Re: adding factory cruise control

Thats weird because I got the "no frills" XE and I have power windows and locks plus the power back glass but no cruise. I know where the controls are, I just have blanks there instead of switches. I would like to put switches there and hook them to a harness in the dash and it magically work but I can't seem to find anyone that can tell me if it will.

Re: adding factory cruise control

I just got the controls for $70 and they just hook up but they don't work I think that it has to be turned on in the ecm !I am going to hook it to a computer tomorrow so I'll let you know how it goes,by the way ther is a great thread here for adding the switches it's posted under adding steering wheel switches.IT'S GREAT

Re: adding factory cruise control

That's really odd that you don't have cruise control!! I have an 08 XE with almost zero options, manual windows and locks no sliding rear glass, front bench seat with fold down center consul. But I still have cruise....
