Rear Diff Fluid Change @ 70K

I have a 04 Titan 2WD that had a complete rear axle swap at about 20K miles due to leaks at weld seam along the rear axle (specifically at the round indentions on either side if the diff). They did the work just before the TSB came out about the fluid viscosity change so I still had the earlier weight oil in the diff. as well as the steel cover.

I changed it this weekend and observed my metal shaving quantity to about the same (maybe a little more - I also tow a 3700 lb. trailer from time to time) as some of the photos I have seen here so I am not to worried about a meltdown anytime soon. My question is what is the proper level for the fluid? I put in 2.0 to 2.1 liters but I would say it was still roughly 1/2" below the hole. I thought I read here that it should nearly be equal to the hole.

Up to the hole is good. That's a level ground reading, by the way. I've heard of some guys who jack the rear of the truck up so they can get more fluid into the rear -- don't do that.
