And soon, someone will come along and tell us how good their gas mileage is. Relatively speaking, of course. Then someone will call BS. And on, and on, and on.....
A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that...

I have a 4wd Titan as well. I get about the same as you do. Go to the website that was posted previously and do a side by side comparison with the other 1/2 ton 4wd p/u's (with any v-8 engine option they offer) and you will see that they are almost all identical - some are actually worse than the Titan.
How much is your gas down there??? Here in Canada, We're at 1.13/L, which is roughly 4.50/Gallon.
I bought this truck knowing full well what I was getting into for fuel. I gave up fuel economy for all the great practical uses a truck like this offers. Plus, we are avoiding a stupid mini-van, cuz the crewcab is huge inside!
Sell it to someone who will appreciate it and go get a Smart car or Prius- then see what you can haul home from Home Depot.
What ever happened to the guy that is averaging 17mpg in the city. He did some type of fuel filter bypass or something like that...

Nissan engineers tell us that fuel economy will be boosted for 2009 when Titan adopts a new torque lockup strategy. We’re expecting this to be accomplished through a new, more efficient multi-function torque converter for the truck’s standard 5-speed automatic transmission that will disengage from the driveline when idling at a stop and use a lockup clutch to quickly match engine and transmission speeds during acceleration. This should provide the Titan with a 1 to 2-mpg bump driving around town. Think of it as taking some of a manual transmission’s inherent fuel economy advantages and applying them to an auto gearbox.

Mileage sucks around town, to and from work, short runs, in Winter. Engine barely warms up. Runs most inefficiently in this mode. I ease the pain by burning e85 because I get 9-10 whether it's gas or e85 around town, so why not take advantage of the .60 discount here in MN ? Then on weekends when I put on the miles, fill up with gasoline and get 17-18 which I think is very respectable for a big truck. Get over it dude.

hows that going to help on acceleration? thats going to make it worse, thats why torque converters dont lock up until youre at highway speeds. and if anybody has anything to say to disagree, i see it as "match engine and transmission speeds" means 1:1 which would load the engine up 100%...been wrong before

Most of the people *****in about gas mileage are people who have just started driving a truck. I have driven many trucks through the past 20 years. From a 1987 Ford F-150 which had a 185 hp 5.0L engine and 3.55 gears. The best it ever did was 15 mpg on a highway trip and routinely avg 11-13 mpg. Fast foward to 1992 F-150 same engine and gears, 9-12 mpg avg. Then a 1995 Chevy 1500 350 pre vortec engine 200 hp, 3.42 gears. 12 mpg avg and best was 16. My dad had a 1996 Dodge 1500 360 engine 235 hp and 3.21 gears and it was horrible. 10-12 mpg avg, 14.5 best. Finally my 1998 F150, 4.6L engine 220hp and 3.08 gears. 12-14 avg, 16.7 best. Now my 2004 Titan 5.6L engine 305(yeh right!)hp big tow 3.36 gears. 12-14 avg and 16.5 best. What does this tell you? Trucks have always gotten pretty lousy mileage, that is nothin new. Observe one thing, the horsepower ratings. I now have a truck that can outrun, outpull, and outdo all the other trucks mentioned and gets around if not better gas mileage. It has also held up better than the other trucks with going on 62000 miles though 4 seasons of farming. So I am not complaining. I still love this truck.
